Fugue
Dans la musique, une fugue est une technique de composition contrapuntique en deux voix ou plus, construite sur un sujet qui est introduit au début à l'imitation et se reproduit fréquemment au cours de la composition. Le terme anglais de la fugue est originaire du 16ème siècle et dérive du mot français fugue ou du fuga italien. Cela vient du latin, aussi fuga, qui est lui-même lié à la fois fugere et fugare. La forme adjectivale est fugueuse. Les variantes comprennent fughetta et fugato. Une fugue comporte généralement trois sections: une exposition, un développement et une récapitulation contenant le retour du sujet dans la clé tonique de la fugue, mais toutes les fugues n'ont pas de récapitulation. Au moyen âge, le terme était largement utilisé pour désigner tous les travaux en style canonique; Par la Renaissance, il était venu désigner des œuvres spécifiquement imitatives. Depuis le 17ème siècle, le terme «fugue» a décrit ce qui est couramment considéré comme la procédure la plus développée de contrepoint imitatif.
