O relație interpersonală este o asociere puternică, profundă sau strânsă sau o cunoaștere între două sau mai multe persoane, care pot varia de la un scurt la durabil. Această asociere se poate baza pe inferență, dragoste, solidaritate, interacțiuni regulate de afaceri sau orice alt tip de angajament social. Relațiile interpersonale se formează în contextul influențelor sociale, culturale și de altă natură. Contextul poate varia de la relații de familie sau de rudenie, prietenie, căsătorie, relații cu asociați, muncitori, cluburi, cartiere și locuri de cult. Acestea pot fi reglementate prin lege, obicei sau acord reciproc și sunt baza grupurilor sociale și a societății în ansamblu.
