Oracol
În antichitatea clasică, o oracolă a fost o persoană sau o agenție considerată a interfera cu un sfat înțelept sau cu predicții profetice sau o pre-cunoaștere a viitorului, inspirată de zei. Ca atare, este o formă de ghicire. Cuvântul oracol vine de la verbul latin ōrāre "să vorbească" și se referă în mod corespunzător la preotul sau la preoteasă care rostește predicția. În folosință extinsă, oracolul se poate referi, de asemenea, la locul oracolului și la propozițiile oraculare, numite khrēsmoi în greacă. Oracolele erau considerate portaluri prin care zeii au vorbit direct cu oamenii.
