A receipt-warrant is a title issued by a general store, in representation of goods that it receives in deposit. The Receipt-warrant consists of two parts: the receipt which establishes, for the benefit of the bearer, the right of ownership over these goods: the warrant which records, for the benefit of the bearer, their pledging. The bearer of the receipt-warrant has all the rights to these goods and in particular to have them delivered by the general store. The holder of the only receipt is an owner whose goods are pledged. The bearer of the single warrant is the bearer of a pledge.

Un récépissé-warrant est un titre délivré par un magasin général, en représentation de marchandises qu'il reçoit en dépôt. Le récépissé-warrant comporte deux parties : le récépissé qui constate, au profit du porteur, le droit de propriété sur ces marchandises : le warrant qui constate, au profit du porteur, leur mise en gage. Le porteur du récépissé-warrant a tous les droits sur ces marchandises et notamment de se les faire remettre par le magasin général. Le porteur du seul récépissé est un propriétaire dont les marchandises sont gagées. Le porteur du seul warrant est porteur d'un effet de commerce garant par un gage.
