Disgust

Asco

Asco is the denomination of the emotion of strong dislike and disgust toward substances and objects such as urine, such as certain foods, excrement, putrid organic materials or their odors, which causes us to violently expel the contents of the stomach through the mouth . Unlike other minor forms of rejection, disgust is expressed through violent bodily reactions such as nausea, vomiting, sweating, lowering of blood pressure and even fainting. Science treats disgust as an elemental emotion rather than an instinct, for it is not innate, but is developed through socialization. Lothar Penning, who has devoted himself to the sociological and historical-cultural aspects of disgust, defines it as "a social mechanism conditioned by culture and transmitted through pedagogy, employing facial reflexes and nausea to preserve the basic social identity, acquired prerationally "Disgust plays a role in some phobias, but the essential feature of a phobia is fear, not disgust. Extreme sensitivity to disgust is considered part of the idiosyncrasy.
